Groups are small and are led by trained counselors. For the 2006 program, we expanded our academic program, now known as "WE" , an acronym for weaving education. The enrichment workshops are managed by certified teachers, who have designed a program that will prepare each child for September. The program registers each child into a level and grade appropriate session that will meet weekly.
Instruction is provided in sports such as softball, volleyball, bowling, basketball and soccer non-exclusively and the children enjoy indoor as well as out door sports in competitive play. We keep in mind that all children are winners and design the program age appropriately, empowering the child.
The art programs will be folk focused and led by accomplished artists and educators.

For our on campus art, cultural and sport activities, the groups are divided by age. Our youngest group, Group A, ages 4 to 6 have a 5 to 1 adult to child ratio.
Group B are 7 - 8 years old and have a 7 to 1 adult/child ratio, Group C are 9 - 10 years old and have a 8 to 1 adult/child ratio, Group D are the Seniors - 11 - 12 years old with a 9 to 1 adult/child ratio. CIT's are 13 - 14 years old with a 10 to 1 adult/ child ratio. CIT's are young teens that are training to be a counselor as well as taking programs themselves.
About our trips:
Parents may attend a trip however they need to register for the trip by completing a trip registration form. Credit cards cannot be used for trips and parent fees must be paid in advance. The only exception to our nutrition program may be full day trips where we may ask for a bag lunch.

Our adult to child ratio for trips is Pee Wee's & Littleumps 3 to 1; Blazers 4 to 1; Juniors 5 to 1; Seniors 6 to 1.

Regarding the WE Program
The children are divided by grade. In the WE program the children are being prepared for September and are participating in enrichment exercises related to subjects they will see in class. With a focus on core subjects, Reading, Science and Mathematics, Writing and Social Studies, SHPA is thrilled with the professional staff, and low child to adult ratio that will help your child be successful.

Info for the Child:

The Camp has three rules: 1. Don’t say “shut-up”. 2. Don’t touch other people’s work 3. Don’t run where you can get hurt. Everything else need not be said.
You will need to bring a bathing suit, a towel, some sun tan lotion, a refillable water bottle, a change of clothes and a large shirt if you take an Art class and a lock for the locker. Please wear sneakers, if not, at least pack them in your bag. Ask the adults to give you a hand getting these together. We ask that you remember them every day. Group D campers can bring electronic games and players to the program with them but we caution you there will be times that they must be left in your locker.

Info for the Parents: About our trips and other things that may not have been mentioned:

The children are bused to activities by yellow school buses or by large motor coach buses.
Parents can join us in our adventures but you also need to register and will have a fee.
Safety and Security rules..

It is the Schuyler Hill policy never to release a child to a person that is not included on your instruction sheet. Therefore, we must hear from you before we will release your child. This rule applies regardless of the relationship of the person to the child, such as the father or grand parent. If they are not listed on the instruction sheet your child will not be released to the person. We have a photo identification system, which means, we ask the parent to bring in two headshots of the child, as well as photos of themselves and others that may pick up the child.
In addition, the parent/guardian must sign the child into the program in the AM and sign them out in the PM. It is at this time they will be given any update information or notices. Also a generic medical form supplied by your physician should be completed and returned to the program. If your doctor does not have a form please let us know and we will send you ours.
